Bincho charcoal is a top-quality charcoal made by burning Kishu ubame oak at the extremely high temperature of 1300 degrees Celsius. This charcoal is crushed into superfine particles and blended into rayon fibres using special technology to create Kishu-Binchotan Fibre. The fibre is then blended with cotton yarn to weave the charcoal towel. This uniquely beautiful and rustic colouring evocative of Japan’s “wabi-sabi” aesthetic is something that chemical dyes could never render.
